Summary

Hull & Paddle is a publication, not a shop. We do not have accounts, we do not take payments, and there is nothing to log into. The only personal information we ever hold is what you type into the contact form, plus anonymous analytics about how the site is used.

Who we are

Hull & Paddle (https://hullandpaddle.com) is published by Slate Mill Group. For anything in this policy, contact info@hullandpaddle.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic and message you enter. That message is emailed to us and is used only to reply to you and to act on what you sent — a correction, a suggestion, a question.

We do not add contact-form addresses to any mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or share them.

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people move through the site. It records information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. IP addresses are anonymized by Google Analytics before storage.

We also record when someone clicks a buy button, as an anonymous event. That tells us which recommendations people find useful. It records the product and the page, never who you are.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and operational purposes.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts, passwords or profiles — there is nothing to log into.
  • No payment information. We never handle a transaction.
  • No advertising or retargeting cookies. We run no ad network.
  • No newsletter list at present.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are those used by Google Analytics to distinguish one visit from another. You can block them in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on. The site works normally without them.

Affiliate links

Buy buttons on this site link to Amazon through a redirect on our own domain. When you follow one, Amazon may set its own cookies and apply its own privacy policy, over which we have no control and no visibility.

We are told by Amazon how many qualifying purchases resulted from our links. We are not told who made them. See our affiliate disclosure for how the commercial relationship works, and Amazon's privacy notice for theirs.

Third parties we use

  • Vercel — hosting and content delivery. Processes server logs.
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage analytics.
  • Microsoft Graph — delivers contact-form messages to our inbox.
  • Amazon — the retailer our buy links point to. Product images are served from Amazon's content delivery network.

How long we keep things

Contact-form emails are kept as long as needed to deal with what you sent and to keep a record of corrections. Analytics data follows Google Analytics' standard retention. Server logs are kept for a short operational period by our host.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our processing of it. Because we hold so little — realistically, an email you sent us — these requests are usually straightforward.

Email info@hullandpaddle.com and we will respond. We do not sell personal information, and we never have.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top will change and we will note it in the Logbook.
